“We are 80,257 Kortrijk residents,” Van Quickenborne said proudly during his speech at the New Year’s reception. About 55 percent of the residents live in the city. The largest sub-municipality is still Heule with 12,605 inhabitants. The record number of inhabitants mainly has consequences for the upcoming municipal elections. This year, not 41, but 43 municipal councilors will be elected in Kortrijk.
The New Year’s reception was the ideal opportunity to enjoy the food, drinks and fireworks available.
