Record number of Belgians on a trip to art cities, coast has slightly decreased

Statistics office Statbel has published figures about a study on travel and holidays in the fourth quarter of last year. Compared to 2016, three times more Belgians went out for a city trip in their own country last year.

As an art city, Bruges also benefited from this trend, along with Ghent, Bruges and Leuven, among others. The coast and the Ardennes are losing ground slightly, according to Statbel’s research. There were also fewer trips abroad.
