Record goalscorer Klos will retire in the summer

The Bielefeld club legend Fabian Klos is ending his active football career in the summer.

The current third division club’s record goalscorer and player announced this decision on Friday.

“Some decisions can’t just be made overnight. Often it’s just a feeling at the beginning that evaporates or is confirmed over time,” said the 36-year-old attacker, who moved to the Alm in 2011 and has played in 444 competitive games so far Scored 178 goals for Arminia.

“Even though this decision was anything but easy for me, the timing still feels right,” the captain continued: “There will be enough time in May for farewell words, emotions and probably tears.”

Almost two years ago, Klos announced that he would be leaving Arminia, at that time Bielefeld was still a first division team. After being put out of action by an injury but having to watch the relegation, the Gifhorn native completed the roll backwards and extended it again.

In the last second division season, however, Bielefeld only finished in 16th place with the former top scorer and was passed through to the third division after losing relegation. In this, the traditional club is in 14th place in the table after 20 games played.
