Record for Taylor Swift’s “1989 (Taylor’s Version)”? Of course!

Taylor Swift’s reissue of the album “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” has reached the top of the “Billboard 200” in the USA. The record (release: October 27, 2023) is her second number one album this year and marks her 13th album at the top of the charts.

Swift’s latest chart-topping record places her third among artists with the most number-one albums of all time, with 13 number-one albums. Only JAY-Z (14) and the Beatles (19) are ahead of her in this category.

Swift’s success in numbers

According to Billboard, the 1989 reissue sold 1.653 million units in its first week – the best sales week for an album since Adele’s “25” in 2015. Physical sales accounted for 1.359 million of the total, surpassing its previous record set by “1989.” from 2014 even exceeds.

Swift also achieved billionaire status this year, delivered her 10th number one single with “Cruel Summer” and released the best-selling concert film of all time with “The Eras Tour.” At the beginning of 2023, Swift secured the top spot as the record holder for the most number one records by a female artist with “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” – where she also overtook Barbara Streisand.

Swift will travel internationally with her “The Eras” tour for the remainder of 2023 and most of 2024 before returning to North America in October.
