The evolution of the number of participants in the city run in Menen shows a clear increase. While 452 runners participated in the first edition in 2014, this grew steadily to 823 in 2016 and more than 1,100 in 2017. In 2019, the cap of 1,500 participants was reached for the first time (1,576). With the current pre-registrations, which exceed the limit of 1,700 participants, the record will certainly be broken again this year.
New course with extra experience
A new route is proposed for this record edition, which takes participants past several striking locations in Menen. For the first time this year, the participants of the Border Run will walk across the new Blauwersbrug, the Ter Walle city park, and the Brouwerspark.
Alderman for Experience Kasper Vandecasteele: “The combination of a record number of participants and a renewed route makes this edition of the Grensloop an exceptional sporting moment for Menen. Both recreational and more competitive runners will together ensure an atmospheric day. I look forward to being one of the thousands of runners and to welcoming the many supporters to make this record edition an unforgettable experience.”
