Record amount of liquefied LNG gas delivered in Zeebrugge
The increase in LNG imports has everything to do with the greater European independence from Russian natural gas. The 36 deliveries in April came mainly from Qatar, but shale gas also came from the United States, and strangely enough also liquefied gas from Russia. Russian gas is stored or pumped to larger tanks destined for China. LNG has never been regasified and put on the natural gas network again.
The LNG terminal in Zeebrugge was put into operation in 1987. The five storage tanks have a capacity of 560,000 cubic meters.
