RECONSTRUCTION. Sixteen months of searching for Miss Mieke’s killer

One year and four months after the murder of Miss Mieke, the police arrested her killer. The 59-year-old care teacher from Noorderwijk was killed in broad daylight in her own home with no fewer than 101 stabbings. By whom, that remained a mystery all along. The investigators organized a large-scale DNA test in which 435 men from the village were asked for a sample and held a consultation hour in the rectory of Noorderwijk, in the hope that the perpetrator would come to them to ‘confession’. That did not happen, but now the police have arrested a suspect. It concerns a 37-year-old former student of Miss Mieke, who has now known the facts. A reconstruction of a search that lasted sixteen months.
