Recommendation: If Inhaler is your thing, you’ll love these 5 bands

We’re getting to the bottom of the inhaler sound and want to give you more alternatives.

If you like indie rock and haven’t heard about Inhaler yet, you should do so as soon as possible. For everyone who has already gotten to know and love the Irish, here are five more bands that you might like.

Inhaler, consisting of Elijah Hewson, Robert Keating, Ryan McMahon and Josh Jenkinson, released their first single in 2017, followed by their first album in 2021. Since then, the four of them have repeatedly demonstrated their musical talent, which one of them was probably born with. After all, singer Elijah Hewson’s father is Paul Hewson, who is better known as Bono from U2.

For everyone who can’t get enough of Inhaler’s hits, we have something to tide you over until the next record. Here are our artist recommendations:

1. Declan Welsh and The Decadent West

If you particularly like the rockier nuances of Inhaler, like in “My Honest Face” or “When It Breaks”, you might find another favorite here. Declan Welsh and The Decadent West entice with introspective lyrics and catchy melodies that no indie party should be without. Very British, very groovy and in our opinion: highly recommended.

Special Recommendations: “Absurd”, “How Does Your Love”, “No Fun”

2. Black Honey

Black Honey are also in the indie rock genre – but every now and then the British quartet also shows touches of psychedelic rock or even punk details. Frontwoman Izzy B. Phillips’ approach used to be to make a difference with her music, to move people and, above all, to empower women. Not only Inhaler fans could discover a new band for themselves here, but also lovers of the Quentin Tarantino films, which were an inspiration for many of their songs.

Special Recommendations: “Heavy”, “I Like The Way You Die”, “Ghost”

3. The Snuts

Apart from that The Snuts like to process socially relevant and political topics in their songs, they also have a lot to offer in terms of sound technology. On their current album BURN THE EMPIRE, the Scots come across as full of energy and a bit cheeky. We listened and can say: rightly so! Similar to Inhaler, the Snuts offer a balanced mix of strong, rock elements and a fascinating lightness.

Special recommendations: “Hallelujah Moment,” “Somebody Loves You,” “Sugarpunch”

4. Nothing But Thieves

Nothing But Thieves is less of an insider tip, but just as much a heartfelt recommendation. Although the British embrace a whole range of genres, they mostly focus on rock and alternative rock. Anyone who is open to an experimental group that likes to delve into the world of metal, mix in a ballady piano part or incorporate synthesizer retro vibes will not be disappointed here.

Special recommendations: “If I Were You,” “Soda,” “Number 13”

5. The Big Moon

The Big Moon provide some indie girl power. On their previous three albums, the girl band combines rock and romance with a lot of road trip atmosphere. Fans of Inhaler’s “Perfect Storm” and “Just To Keep You Satisfied” in particular might find what they’re looking for here if they’re looking for new playlist fodder.

Special recommendations: “Trouble”, “Sucker”, “Why”
