The municipality of Aa en Hunze will receive Ukrainian refugees in Papenvoort. The Yorneo site has room for 150 people. In Meppel, more clarity has become about the reception in the hospital, the municipality of De Wolden has also found locations.
Residents near the site in Papenvoort were informed by the municipality today. The Yorneo site will in any case be used as a reception location for a year, there is an option for a second year.
Education
In addition to housing, there is room for education and space for medical support and workplaces is being considered. For this we work together with the GGD, Refugee Work and Impuls Welzijn, among others, says mayor Anno Wietze Hiemstra Hiemstra.
Adjustments to the various buildings are still necessary, but the municipality expects the first refugees to be able to go to Papenvoort in the first week of April.
Elker Youth Aid and Education with its Viyuna department will soon be establishing itself at the Yorneo location. On behalf of the Nidos Foundation, they carry out the small-scale reception and supervision of a small number of unaccompanied minor status holders.
Meppel
The vacated Isala hospital and adjacent Reggersoord rehabilitation center in Meppel were already in the picture, the municipality reports today that the first refugees can be received on 1 April. Initially it concerns 130 places, whether they will all be occupied will become clear later. Next weekend, Isala will start using the new hospital in Meppel. The municipality works together with Isala for the refugee reception. For a number of practical matters, such as providing food and linen, they can use Isala’s facilities.
The boat on the Paradijsweg in Meppel, where refugees would be received until April 1, will probably stay longer. Residents and entrepreneurs in the area have been spoken to, and according to the municipality they understand the situation, which means that the boat is needed longer. However, it is necessary to consider whether the traffic situation can be improved.
The municipality of Meppel is still looking for locations where refugees can be accommodated for a longer period of time. It also takes into account a situation in which crisis relief is necessary.
Assignment
Every security region in the Netherlands has been instructed to realize a thousand reception places by next Monday at the latest. A further thousand places must then be searched for. The Drenthe Safety Region is positive, but says it is not quite there yet.
“Finding a suitable place in a municipality is one thing, but putting it into use is another. Before that, beds must be made, medical care must also be arranged and, for example, people who provide food. Especially finding people who can do those tasks taking on is a problem at the moment.”
Private initiatives for reception are not included in the target.
The Wolden
The Municipality of De Wolden can offer shelter to 15 Ukrainians in a farmhouse in Drogter Storageen. An accommodation has also been found in Koekange: De Moréne Hoeve. The holiday accommodation has room for 8 refugees.
There may be room for dozens of refugees at the De Westerbergen holiday park in Echten, but these fully equipped places are not for long-term reception.
Municipalities are looking further
For the time being, only the site of the Prince Bernardhoeve in Zuidlaren is in view in Tynaarlo as a reception location. “A shelter for the medium term,” a spokesperson said. It is not yet known how the site, where the utilities are already located, will be arranged. The Drenthe Safety Region is considering the location and must ultimately decide whether they want to use the PBH site.
11 Ukrainian refugees have been accommodated in group accommodation De Hullen in Roden. The municipality of Noordenveld is looking for more locations. The Fletcher Hotel in Roden is an option, where 90 people could be provided with a bed. “But whether, when and how that will happen is not yet known,” the municipality said.
The search continues in Midden-Drenthe, despite the fact that the municipality already has room for 60 reception places with the Dr. Nassau College. Recreational entrepreneurs, among others, were asked about places. Landal Orveltermarke is one of the places where refugees may also find shelter.
A holiday park has been found in Borger-Odoorn to accommodate 60 refugees. At the request of the entrepreneur, the municipality has not yet announced which park it is. Despite the fact that it is still quiet in the municipality with applications, the search continues for places. “The situation could change after the weekend,” said a spokesperson.
Searching in Westerveld and Coevorden
Westerveld and Coevorden are the only two municipalities in Drenthe where no reception places have yet been found by the municipality. The municipality of Westerveld has announced that most recreation companies are already fully booked, now that they are catching up after the corona years.
The municipality is not interested in placing camp beds in sports halls, as long as they can be accommodated in other ways. The municipality continues to search, but does not expect a large location. “It will then be a place where you can lose 15 to 30 people,” a spokesperson said.
