Recall of children’s chocolate that accidentally ended up on Jumbo shelves | Cooking & Eating

Supermarket Jumbo mistakenly put Schoko-Bons of the Kinder brand on a few shelves, while products from that factory had just been recalled because of salmonella.

Jumbo is now recalling all Kinder Schoko-Bons 300 grams with best before date 05-10-2022 or earlier. Salmonella bacteria may be present in the chocolate.

On April 8, the Ferrero factory in Belgium was shut down due to salmonella contamination in Kinder chocolate products. Figures from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) this summer showed hundreds of confirmed and probable cases of infection in 13 countries. Many children had to go to hospital.

In the Netherlands, where there were some cases, Kinder Surprise and other Kinder brand products were taken off the shelves in April. Consumers were advised not to eat the chocolates. The salmonella could end up in the chocolate through a clogged filter in the Ferrero factory.

According to Jumbo, the party in question Kinder Schoko-Bons was also recalled. It was accidentally delivered ‘to a limited number of stores’. Jumbo has removed all stock of these bags from the stores as a precaution. The advice to customers is not to eat Ferrero Kinder Schoko-Bons with best before date 05-10-2022 or earlier. Customers can return the chocolate and get their money back.
