Rebellin, the truck driver who killed him extradited to Italy

the court of Hamm has given the go-ahead to the request of the Vicenza Public Prosecutor’s Office. The 62-year-old German is accused of having overwhelmed the Venetian champion on 30 November: he must answer for vehicular homicide and hit and miss

Wolfgang Rieke will be extradited to Italy: the Hamm court has given the green light to the request of the Vicenza prosecutor’s office. As is known, the 62-year-old German truck driver is accused of having run over and killed Davide Rebellin last November 30 in Montebello Vicentino. The Venetian champion had died due to crushing trauma that had caused very serious internal injuries. In June, Rieke was arrested in Germany, in execution of the European Arrest Warrant issued by the Gip, at the request of the public prosecutor in charge of the file, on heavy charges of road homicide and hit and miss.

the process

The driver was released from prison a few days later, with the obligation to report to the judicial authorities on a weekly basis. And now what is the process? It is up to both ministries, Italian and German, to take care of Rieke’s transfer from Germany to Vicenza: in Italy he had been requested for pre-trial detention in prison.
