Realistic Nick Doodeman from Venhuizen finds the pleasure of playing football at Willem II

With two free kicks that eventually resulted in a goal, Nick Doodeman was important for Willem II’s 2-1 win over Telstar. The attacker from Venhuizen settled with the Tricolores at the beginning of the summer and he likes that. “I had lost the fun in football a bit.”

It was not easy for Willem II at home against Telstar on Friday evening. The relegated from the Eredivisie did everything in the final phase to keep the points in Tilburg. “Really relieved with this win”, admits Nick Doodeman honestly afterwards. It was mainly time wasting that the home team did in the final phase, but it did lead to the first win of the season for Willem II.

Assistant King

Doodeman went through the youth academy of AZ and then left for FC Volendam. At the Palingboeren he developed into a dangerous right winger with a great sense of serving fellow players for the goal. After three and a half years, the king of the assist left for Cambuur Leeuwarden. There he celebrated the championship in the first division after a few months. And last season he was part of a surprisingly strong Cambuur in the Eredivisie. Still, Doodeman deliberately took a step down to Willem II this summer.

With the victory over Telstar and now four points from three games, Willem II’s future looks a lot brighter. The Tilburgers really want to become champions this season. And Doodeman also wants to return to the highest level soon and show that he belongs there too. “I want to set something straight.”
