Spanish police arrested three unnamed players from record champions Real Madrid’s youth academy on Thursday because they are said to have distributed a sex video with a minor. This was stated by a police spokesman.
The officials arrested the players, who were between 21 and 22 years old, at Los Blancos’ training ground after a complaint was lodged against the footballers in the Canary Islands at the beginning of the month, a spokesman for the Guardia Civil explained. Police questioned a fourth Real youth player about the incident, but it was not clear at this time whether he would also be charged.
In a brief statement, the club said it was aware that a player from Real Madrid’s second team, Castilla, and three players from Real Madrid C – the Spanish club’s third team – “have made statements to the Guardia Civil that relate to a complaint about the alleged distribution of a private video via WhatsApp”.
Online newspaper El Confidencial, which broke the story citing sources in the investigation, reported that the main target of the investigation was a Real Madrid C player who allegedly recorded himself having sex with a 16-year-old . The other two players are said to have passed on the video via WhatsApp without consent, the report says.
