Toni Kroos remains open to returning to the German national soccer team for the home European Championships. “The possibility exists, maybe I’ll return. Real’s defense chief Antonio Rüdiger and other national players had recently repeatedly spoken out in favor of a DFB comeback for the 2014 world champion. In December, Rüdiger started a discussion about Kroos’ possible DFB return with statements like “I ask him every day.” Kroos resigned from the national team after the 2021 European Championship and 106 international matches.
Kroos also kept a low profile about his future at Los Blancos, where his contract expires at the end of the season. “I haven’t made a decision yet. I want to stop at the peak. Coach Carlo Ancelotti praised the German. He couldn’t answer whether Kroos was having his best season in Madrid, but “his passing rate is the same as ten years ago. He was always top class. He can control the rhythm, he’s in very good form,” said Ancelotti.
And further: “He always delivered. His level was always high.” The Leipzig team described Ancelotti as a “good opponent with a lot of quality. They play with a lot of speed. We need a good performance.”
