Real Sociedad-Inter in the Champions League, the Nerazzurri’s previous matches in Spain

As has often happened over the last 25 years, Inter’s first failure to win a Champions League match in Spain was no real disappointment. In the 1998-1999 edition, the Nerazzurri’s journey started right from the Santiago Bernabeu: the match remained in balance for 79 minutes, then Guus Hiddink’s team advanced with a penalty from Fernando Hierro (conquered by Savio) before Clarence Seedorf’s second goal in the 90′. Bright side? The winners of the group will be Luigi Simoni’s men (replaced in the meantime by Mircea Lucescu) ahead of Blancosthe Russians of Spartak Moscow and the Austrians of Sturm Graz. Inter and Real Madrid will both be eliminated in the quarter-finals.
