Real Madrid wins lackluster in the suburbs

Champions League winners Real Madrid have regained the lead in the Spanish league, at least temporarily.

At FC Getafe, whose stadium is only about 18 kilometers south of the Santiago Bernabéu, the royal team managed a lackluster 1-0 (1-0), temporarily knocking FC Barcelona off the top of the table.

The Catalans around Bayern Munich’s former star striker Robert Lewandowski can pass again on Sunday.

Defender Eder Militao (3rd) ensured the seventh win in eight games early on after assisting the Croatian Luka Modric. Another goal by Rodrygo (57th) did not count because of offside.

National player Antonio Rüdiger played through in central defence, while Toni Kroos stayed on the bench.
