Real Madrid has further increased Valencia’s concerns. Spain’s number 2 was 2-0 too strong for the club that said goodbye to coach Gennaro Gattuso on Monday.
With the win, Real reduced the gap to Barcelona to 5 points again. The leader already won 2-1 on Wednesday at Real Betis. Valencia remains in fourteenth place with 20 points, 1 point above the red line.
The visitors, who only managed to win one of the last ten league matches, also made little impression in the Bernabéu with the usual interim coach Voro in the dugout. Valencia, where Justin Kluivert was missing, was behind the facts from the first minute and was lucky that Marco Asensio in particular initially missed the necessary opportunities.

A goal by Antonio Rüdiger was disallowed just before half-time due to a foul by Karim Benzema. In the opening phase of the second half, Real took distance within three minutes. Asensio made it 1-0 with a nice shot in the far corner, after which Vinícius Júnior scored the 2-0 after a rush. Valencia defender Gabriel Paulista saw red 20 minutes before the end after a hard foul on his Brazilian compatriot Vinícius.
