Real Madrid reach the final of the Club World Cup

Record winners Real Madrid are aiming for their fifth title at the Club World Cup.

The Champions League winners beat Egypt’s Al Ahly 4-1 (1-0) in the semi-finals in Rabat, Morocco, and will face Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal in the final on Saturday.

Vinicius Junior (42nd), Federico Valverde (46th), Rodrygo (90th + 2nd) and Sergio Arribas (90th + 8th) scored the goals of the favorite. Luka Modric also failed with a penalty kick on Mohamed El-Shenawy (87th).

Toni Kroos and Antonio Rüdiger were in the starting XI for the Royals, who had to do without some stars due to injuries. Ali Maaloul meanwhile reduced the penalty for Al Ahly with a penalty kick (65th).

Al-Hilal had surprisingly defeated the Brazilian club Flamengo from Rio de Janeiro in Tangier (3:2) in the first semi-final and reached the final of the Club World Cup for the first time. The teams from Europe had recently secured the title nine times in a row.
