Real Madrid took advantage of their catch-up game and pushed the surprise team FC Girona off the top of the table in the Spanish La Liga. Coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team won against FC Getafe thanks to two goals from former Bundesliga striker Joselu (14th/56th). After 22 games, Real is two points ahead of Girona with 57 points, while FC Barcelona is already far behind (47 points).
However, Real had to complain about the injury to German international Antonio Rüdiger. The centre-back collided with Mason Greenwood in the first half and was substituted at half-time.
The victory gives the Royals a boost ahead of crucial weeks. The city derby against Atletico Madrid is on Sunday (9 p.m.), followed by the top duel with Girona and the Champions League round of 16 against RB Leipzig.
