Real Madrid is at least within reach of leaders FC Barcelona in the Spanish football championship.
After being 1-0 down, the record champions still won 3-1 (2-1) against Espanyol Barcelona and thus achieved their first success after the last three competitive games without a win. After Joselu Mato gave the guests a quick lead in the eighth minute, Vinicius Junior (22nd minute), Eder Militao (39th) and Marco Asensio (90th + 3) turned the game around.
The win puts Real six points behind FC Barcelona, who travel to Athletic Bilbao this Sunday. Coach Carlo Ancelotti called on Toni Kroos in the starting line-up, national defender Antonio Rüdiger came on as a substitute in the 74th minute.
Real is expecting Liverpool FC for the round of 16 second leg in the Champions League on Wednesday. The royals won the first leg with coach Jürgen Klopp’s team 5-2.
