Real Madrid: Ancelotti confirms departure from Isco – move to Betis?

Circle closes against Betis

The third championship title with Real Madrid this season was also the last for Isco (30) with the “Royal”. Coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed after Friday’s game against Real Betis (0-0) that the attacking midfielder’s Real career is over. It comes full circle for the 38-time national player: “He made his debut for Madrid against Betis and scored a headed goal, and he says goodbye to Madrid against Betis,” said Ancelotti. Will the Seville club also be his new employer?

The coach certified Isco a “fantastic career”. The veteran from the Costa del Sol was a key player in Real’s recent triumphs. Among other things, Isco has already celebrated four Champions League titles. His colleagues could give him a fifth as a farewell gift when Los Blancos take on Liverpool in the ‘premier class’ final on May 28 (9pm). Ancelotti emphasized (quoted via “mark“) to his previous protégé but also: “I think Francisco could have done more, yes, but he was an important part of this team. He had a lot of important games, finals, always brought a lot of quality to the competition. I wish him the very best.”

In total, between the two aforementioned games against Real Betis, Isco made another 350 competitive appearances for the capital club. The team from Seville, on the other hand, comes back into focus when it comes to the question of the offensive man’s next employer. A few weeks ago, the newspaper “Marca” reported that Betis and ex-Real coach Manuel Pellegrini wanted to bring his former player to the Verdiblancos. There Isco would initially receive a two-year contract until 2024 and rank among the top earners. The team narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot in fifth place in LaLiga.
