A referee seriously injured at the World Hockey Championships in Germany Lukas Kohlmüller is recovering, the International Hockey Association IIHF reported.

Kohlmüller was seriously injured on Thursday after receiving an incision in his wrist from a US player’s skate in a semi-final match between the US and Latvia.

Kohlmüller’s hand was immediately sprayed with plenty of blood, and the man was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The IIHF confirmed that Kohlmüller had a severe incision in his wrist and was hospitalized. The Athletic editor Scott Wheelerin according to Kohlmüller was cut twice.

– I had a quick chat with Lukas this morning and I am happy to say that he is in a good mood and that he can move his hands and fingers, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the World Cup Franz Reindl said according to the IIHF.

The German Hockey Association, for its part, stated that Kohlmüller was “well off the circumstances”.

Reindl also thanked the ice rink’s emergency room staff and the U.S. team doctor who were quick to help Kohlmüller.
