The construction of twelve new-build rental homes at Zegschijneweg 60B has started. It is a small-scale apartment complex with six houses on the ground floor and six houses on the top floor.

The complex will be located on a unique piece of historic Zoetermeer, where there used to be a residential house with a car garage in the backyard. The detached house and the land were bought by a private investor who is having a modern building with twelve sustainable homes built. The detached house will probably be refurbished.

Different floors

The ground floor apartments of about 45 m2 can be reached at the rear via a private entrance. This type of apartment will have a kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom. The upstairs apartments of about 75 m2 are accessible via a staircase on the outside. The living room and the separate kitchen meet on the first floor with a loggia. Two bedrooms and the bathroom are on the second floor. On the third floor there will be a storage attic without rooms.

Storage rooms are planned next to the complex: one per house, for storing bicycles and other items. At the rear of the site, against the pear orchard, there will be a communal garden and parking area. All homes will be equipped with sustainable solutions such as a heat pump, plastic frames and solar panels.

What will that cost?

The rental prices are not yet known at this time. The owner indicates that the houses will fall in the mid-range rent: “We think that the smallest house will cost just under 1,000 euros per month, the larger house will be above that. We need to see what the construction costs will be, so that we can only determine the exact rental price at a later time.”

Just a little patience

The construction of this new complex is planned for approximately one year. Due to a submitted objection, the delivery may take longer. For now, the prognosis is that the rental homes will be ready around the summer of 2023.
