RE49 is a finalist at the Green Fashion Product Award in Germany with finals on July 22nd at the Neonyt Sustainable Fair in Düsseldorf. We were already a finalist in the Generic Green Product Award held in Berlin in March and are very proud to have reached the next level of this prestigious award. We compete with forty fashion brands from all over the world, chosen by a very selective jury of experts in the field of sustainability and circular economy.
There’s still work to be done towards a more sustainable fashion industry, and RE49 uses existing materials to create its iconic shoes.
Circular economy is our mantra: We can make recycling the new luxury shoe. There are so many high-quality materials that go to waste or go to landfill that it doesn’t really make sense to keep producing new ones. We should first try to use what we already have and then we’ll see.
RE49 plays an important role in the fashion industry and the brand’s focus is to show that by combining design, creativity and technology it is possible to recycle materials and create exclusive and durable shoes.
We are working hard to source and test many iconic materials, pilot our blockchain certification platform and partner with iconic brands to join forces in this groundbreaking mission.
