RBB top meets for savings retreat – in Brandenburg noble hotel

Cross out millions – and have fun doing it! In the “picturesque ambience” of the Hotel Landgut Stober, the RBB bosses have been advising since Sunday how the pomp and swank broadcaster can save 41 million euros. This does not go down well with the employees.

“Decelerate, relax, feel good”, advertises the Stober estate on the Großer Behnitzsee. “It’s a magical place”.

RBB director Katrin Vernau (49) could not resist the temptation. On Sunday she arrived with her directors and (main) department heads at the conference hotel near Nauen (Havelland).

It all started with a relaxed dinner in the Seeterrassen restaurant. On the menu: braised leg of venison, breast of pheasant or sea bass in savoy cabbage (26.50-29.50 euros).

After BZ had reported, Vernau’s spokesman said: “The director pays for dinner out of his own pocket.”

Normal RBB employees even have to pay for the company Christmas party.

“We have always held our exams in RBB rooms in a cost-conscious manner,” says annoyed Christoph Hölscher, representative of the 1400 freelancers. “We don’t want to judge whether the organic hotel is a necessary and appropriate framework for discussing drastic cuts in the program and in the income of freelancers.”

RBB boss does not want to save on the 2000 permanent employees. Instead with the TV offer. One has to consider whether the 3rd program should continue to broadcast around the clock, said Vernau, if it only had viewers the evening before. And: “Why should we make TV programs for young people who don’t watch TV at all?”

After the overnight stay (120-220 euros per person/night), the RBB bosses wanted to continue discussing their austerity course on Monday. The hotel charges an additional 74 euros/person for the conference room.
