The French national soccer player Nordi Mukiele leaves the Bundesliga club RB Leipzig and moves to his home country to the champions Paris St. Germain. Both clubs confirmed this on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old defender will receive a five-year contract in Paris. The media had recently named ten million euros as a possible transfer fee.
“It’s a very big step in my career,” said Mukiele, who signed RB four years ago for 16 million euros from HSC Montpellier.
He is the fourth signing of the French champions this summer after Portuguese midfielder Vitinha (FC Porto), his compatriot Nuno Mendes (left-back/Sporting Lisbon) and French striker Hugo Ekitike (Stade Reims).
Even before his transfer was officially confirmed, Mukiele said goodbye to the Leipzig fans. After four years together, “our story comes to an end,” said the Frenchman in a video he posted on Instagram.
“I haven’t forgotten anything, neither the highs nor the lows, the difficult moments, the disappointments,” said Mukiele. “But I will only remember the best. The heart of our team, our victories and our first trophy. This story will always be ours. Thank you for everything.” RB won the DFB Cup for the first time last May.
