Only back in September
Yussuf Poulsen will be missing RB Leipzig longer than initially thought. After an MRI check this week, the cup winner measures the injury time up to September before the Leipzig record player can start training again, as RB announced on Friday.
The striker sustained a left adductor muscle injury during Denmark’s Nations League game against Croatia on June 10. However, the MRI revealed a more severe injury pattern. Initially, a break of six weeks was assumed.
“This injury involves complicated damage to the muscles and tendons, the extent of which only became clear in the past few days after a puncture and thus a reduction in the bruising around the injured muscle enabled a clear view,” said Helge Riepenhof , director of medicine and sports science at RB Leipzig. “At the same time, we will do everything we can to find and eliminate the causes of the frequent muscle injuries in recent months.”
Last season, Poulsen missed 13 games due to injury, including his corona disease in November 2021.
Oh no! Our record player Yussuf #Poulsen will unfortunately be out for a longer period of time and will probably be out until September due to a muscle injury in the left adductor area.
Get well soon, Yussi
