“There are no new plans or other mind games,” Leipzig’s sports director Oliver Mintzlaff announced a few weeks ago with a view to Brian Brobbey’s personnel. The centre-forward, who signed from Ajax on a free transfer last summer and was loaned back to the Eredivisie club in January, wants to stay with the Dutch beyond the summer – according to “picture“-Zeitung, RB would be willing to discuss an offer twice the current market value of Brobbey.

The Bundesliga club should call 15 million euros for the 20-year-old offensive talent, whose contract with the Saxons runs until 2025 – if Amsterdam agrees, RB would record a whopping transfer plus with the personnel within a year and Brobbey would also be in the top 10 of the most expensive sales advance in club history. According to media reports, Ajax had recently signaled their willingness to pay up to 10 million euros for Brobbey’s permanent commitment. Coach Erik ten Hag, who moved to Manchester United, told De Telegraaf in April: “We will work on that because we really want to keep him.”

Brobbey made only nine brief appearances in the Bundesliga for Leipzig in the first half of the season and faces considerable competition in coach Domenico Tedesco’s squad. Another loan should not be ruled out either – also because the player had repeatedly confirmed his desire to stay with his home club in the past. Tedesco does not want to endanger the atmosphere within the team unnecessarily, according to the “Bild”.

Brobbey has had eight goals in eleven league games for Ajax since January. The Oranje U21 international still hasn’t given up hope of staying at the training club: “I’ve said it before, I want to stay. That’s all I can say. I think the clubs are talking to each other,” Brobbey told TV broadcaster NOS this week. With a view to the sums rumored as part of a possible transfer that put him in the top, the right-footer explained: “I don’t know if I’m worth it. Ajax has to decide that.”
