RB Leipzig lends Ben Klefisch to Viktoria Köln – follows his brother

“He’s come a long way”

RB Leipzig lends talent Ben Klefisch to FC Viktoria Köln for one season. The 19-year-old, who played 26 games (four goals) for the U19s last season, is under contract with the Saxons until 2024. At the third division, Klefisch follows in the footsteps of his older brother Kai (22), who recently left Cologne for SC Paderborn.

“We said to each other, Viktoria Cologne in the 3rd division without Klefisch, that’s not possible,” said coach Olaf Janßen with a smile. “But seriously: We are very pleased that Ben has confirmed our path with his yes to us and is happy to go with us. Ben has enjoyed the best education a youth player can have in recent years at RB Leipzig. He’s already extremely advanced for his age and brings many things with him that also distinguished his brother Kai. So he’s a very exciting player who fits perfectly with our DNA, how we play football.”

Klefisch added: “Because I was able to get to know the club very well through my brother over the past few years, the decision was very easy for me. I knew that I felt comfortable from the start, especially since I’m coming home. I want to take the next step in my career and I think Viktoria is exactly the right club for that.”
