Accordingly, Boniface was observed several times by the Saxons. However, he is not seen as a replacement for Christopher Nkunku, whose move to Chelsea is said to have been fixed since last summer, but as a center forward and thus as a possible successor to André Silva or Yussuf Poulsen.
According to “Bild”, Silva is dealing with leaving RB after two years. In the summer of 2021, the Saxons paid 23 million euros to Eintracht Frankfurt and gave the attacker a contract until 2026. His consulting agency “Gestifute” led by Jorge Mendes is currently busy exploring the market and looking around for potential new employers, they say. Poulsen is still under contract until June 2024, but cannot make any statements regarding his sporting future. “I don’t know at the moment. We didn’t talk about an extension or a change,” explained the 28-year-old offensive player in an interview with “Sport Bild”.

With six goals, Boniface leads the Europa League scorer rankings along with Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford. Boniface switched from the Norwegians to Union at the beginning of August for a fee of 2 million euros, and since then he has had 14 goals in 31 games in the Jupiler Pro League. His market value has made a quantum leap this season from 700,000 euros in July 2022 to 6 million euros now – with the runners-up in the Belgian league, together with strike partner Simon Adingra, he is the most valuable professional in the squad. Boniface’s contract runs until 2026. According to the report, however, he is not the first choice for Leipzig.
