RB Leipzig has given talented goalkeeper Timo Schlieck a professional contract. As the Red Bulls announced on Tuesday, the 18-year-old, who turned of age last Saturday, is now tied down until 2027. Schlieck has been training with the Saxons for a good two and a half years after he moved to Leipzig from Borussia Dortmund’s youth team. He is currently active in the U19 team.
“Timo Schlieck is a special goalkeeping talent who has been making his way at RB Leipzig since 2021. Timo has improved from year to year and, above all, has shown that he can hold his own against resistance – like after his knee injury at the beginning of 2023. He has everything he needs to be able to sustainably assert himself in the professional field and that’s why it was for us It quickly became clear that we now wanted to give him a professional contract! In addition to his size, what sets him apart is his ability to react and he is already at a very good level as a footballer. Now it’s about continuing to develop for him,” said sports director Rouven Schröder about the 1.95 meter tall keeper, who had to undergo meniscus surgery in January 2023 and was out for a long time afterwards.
