RB Leipzig claims leadership in the virtual Bundesliga

RB Leipzig defended its lead in the south-east division of the Virtual Bundesliga Club Championship in FIFA 22 in a long-distance duel with Ingolstadt 04.

The two teams went into the doubles match on equal points. The chance for a change at the top of the table was there: Leipzig only scored four points against Hertha BSC, against Eintracht Frankfurt the leaders only dropped six points.

It was the reigning VBL singles champion Umut “Umut” Gültekin who dropped points in his two solo matches. As in the first half of the season, Umut lost to Frankfurt’s Andreas “Andy” Gube (2:3).

The player from Leipzig seemed visibly dissatisfied with his performance, especially in the game against Andy. Umut paused after conceding the third goal, slumped lower and lower in his chair and looked to his teammate Richard “Gaucho” Hormes for help.

But Ingolstadt also dropped points. The second-placed team only picked up three points against Eintracht Frankfurt and four points against Jahn Regensburg. The double match against Regensburg had to be postponed, so Leipzig’s three-point lead is just a snapshot of the day’s match.
