RB Leipzig can expect higher income from the supplier in the coming years. On Tuesday, the Saxon Bundesliga club announced that the ten-year contract with Nike would not be extended for the coming season. Instead, the cup winner will be equipped by Puma for the next ten years.

According to “Bild”, Leipzig will receive a total of 150 million euros spread over ten years for the signature with the sporting goods manufacturer from Herzogenaurach, which is far more than before. In the past and equally long period, Nike gave a total of 60 million euros.

However, with 15 million euros per year, RB is still far behind compared to the top European clubs. Record champions FC Bayern have been able to receive around 60 million euros per year from Adidas since 2015 and until 2030, while Real Madrid can also receive 120 million euros per year from Adidas.

The deal was orchestrated by the chairman of the supervisory board and Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzlaff, who used to work at Puma himself. Leipzig now joins a group of large clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and AC Milan. Adidas and Nike are also said to have been interested in working with RB.
