RB Leipzig: Change from Hugo Novoa to FC Basel perfect

“Offer was very interesting”

As expected, Hugo Novoa is moving from RB Leipzig to FC Basel. The two clubs confirmed this on Wednesday evening. The Spanish offensive talent will be on loan for the Swiss first division team until June 30, 2024. Novoa previously extended his contract with the “Red Bulls” until 2025. The right winger, who has made eleven short appearances (one goal) for RB this season , should gain more match practice in Basel.

“Hugo is a young player with great potential who we want to develop further at FCB. He is one of the youngest Spanish U21 players and has already gained a lot of experience at the highest level with Leipzig. We’re happy that he gives us additional options on the offensive and makes us even more unpredictable,” said sporting director Heiko Vogel.

Novoa added: “The offer from FC Basel was very interesting because I get the chance to take the next step in my career in one of the biggest clubs in Switzerland. With my speed and my strength in one-on-ones, I think I can help FCB especially in moving forward. I’m looking forward to the fantastic fans and the beautiful city and I’m convinced that we can achieve great things here.”
