Former Bundesliga coach Robin Dutt expects a balanced game between RB Leipzig and SC Freiburg in the DFB Cup final. And praises the people of Breisgau.
“Even if Leipzig has become very stable for a few weeks: Freiburg has been the whole season. It will therefore be a duel on an equal footing in Berlin,” wrote Dutt in an article for “Kicker”. “RB may have more potential down the road because you have more money and a strong backer, but that doesn’t matter in this game.”
SC Freiburg prevailed against Hamburger SV in the semi-finals, RB Leipzig won the duel with Union Berlin 2-1 on Wednesday evening. The final is on May 21 in Berlin.
“Nobody else seems to be guided by that”
Dutt, himself a coach there from 2007 to 2011, praised the continuity at SC Freiburg. “In the Christian Streich era alone, Hamburger SV had had fifteen different coaches since the end of 2011,” calculated Dutt. It is surprising why only Freiburg manages to get away from such developments – and most of the other clubs do not.
“In the meantime, the supposed dwarf is playing with this strategy for the Champions League, but nobody else seems to be guided by it.”
