Ray Liotta is dead. The actor died while filming the film “Dangerous Waters” in the Dominican Republic. This was reported by several US media on Thursday evening. He was 67 years old and is said to have died in his sleep. An employee at the Dominican Republic’s National Institute for Forensic Science confirmed Liotta’s death. There was no further information about the cause of death.
Ray Liotta became known to a large audience in 1990 for his portrayal of mobster Henry Hill in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas.
Born in Newark, New Jersey in 1954 and adopted by Scottish-Italian adoptive parents, his on-camera career began with the TV series Another World. In 1986 he also celebrated his breakthrough on the big screen with a role in Jonathan Demme’s “Dangerous Girlfriend”. His most important films include Field of Dreams (alongside Kevin Costner, 1989), Fatal Desire (1992), Operation Dumbo (1995) and Cop Land with Sylvester Stallone (1997).
In 2005, Liotta won an Emmy for a guest appearance on the series “Emergency Room”. The actor leaves behind a fiancée and a daughter.
