Ray Hildebrand, known from the pop duo Paul & Paula, has died

Member of the Paul & Paula duo Ray Hildebrand has died at the age of 82. The cause of the singer’s death is not yet known, but it is said that he passed away on Friday, August 18, in Kansas City.

Variety– magazine, the American pop duo is best known from 1963 Hey Paula from his album, which collected a million sales. Hildebrand himself wrote the album’s title song Hey Paula. Released in 1962, the song reached the top of two Billboard charts. The duo released a total of three albums before disbanding in 1965.

The other member of the duo is Jill Jackson, with whom Hildebrand never had any kind of romance, despite rumors. The two have occasionally returned to the stage together to perform their classic hits. This happened, for example, in 2012, when the doubles team performed at their old high school.

Hildebrand’s career continued in connection with Christian music. His most famous recordings include, among others Anyone Here Wanna Live Forever? – and Say I Do songs. In addition, he founded in the 1980s Paul Landin with a CCM duo called Land & Hildebrand, who did faith-based comedy and music.

Hildebrand expressed her Christian faith throughout her life. In addition to his beliefs, he openly talked about his experiences in the music industry on his website.

– I was tired of chasing something around the world that I wasn’t even sure I wanted. I had recorded a hit album, but the royalties were disappearing. I couldn’t see dedicating my life to dirty jokes and nightclubs. For what? That’s when I started reading the Bible again. I had grown up in a Christian family, but had never asked real questions about life or my faith. That’s when I realized that the creator was trying to teach me something, he wrote on his website.

The artist originally from Joshua got married by Judy Hendricks with in 1964, and they had two children: Heidi Sterling and Mike Hildebrand.
