Rasmus Vehmaa dazzled on Monday in the heat of the 110m hurdles of the under-18 European Championships, but Tuesday’s semi-final run ended in disappointment in Jerusalem.

Vehmaa started the semi-final race well and quickly rose to the top spot, but at the fifth and sixth hurdles, an injury struck. Vehmaa slowed down his pace and seemed to watch his step. He crashed at the sixth fence and did not finish his run.

Germany ran to victory in the first round Timon Dethloff.

On Monday, Vehmaa, 17, was blazing fast in the heats, when he clocked a time of 13.18. Vehmaa’s time would have been a new race record, but the tailwind (3.7 m/s) was more than allowed.
