And not just any one: he found a 100 Palestinian pound note. We know of the existence of only ten of these banknotes, an expert tells the Mirror. The coin was issued to senior officials during the British Mandate in Palestine in 1927.

The appraiser Wyman called in initially came in at ‘just’ £30,000, but the last bid at the auction was £140,000.

Wyman: ,,I realized I had something in my hands that was incredibly rare. I couldn’t believe the note sold for £140,000. Until this moment I thought it was not a real banknote because it is so very rare.” Ultimately, bidders from all over the world joined the bidding.

The money will go to Oxfam. “It’s wonderful to think I played a part in raising so much money for an organization that helps the poorest people worldwide.”
