Rapping judiciary: GReeeN and Judge Müller call for legalization of cannabis

To coincide with 4/20, the unofficial stoner holiday, marijuana lover GReeeN calls for cannabis legalization in a new music video. Doesn’t sound unusual so far. But one feature gives the music video an interesting twist: the juvenile judge Andreas Müller dances through the video with GReeeN in a tie and black robe. Together they write: “Smoking weed is not criminal / smoking weed is normal”. The track itself is pragmatically called “Decriminalization Immediately”.

Members of the judiciary have so far been a rarity in German rap videos – above all as a positive point of reference. With the unusual cooperation, GReeeN and the judge from Berlin, who is known for his commitment to legalization, now want to put pressure on the federal government, which has already written cannabis legalization into the coalition agreement. Since then, however, the topic has become quiet. This is another reason why Müller demands: “Keep your promises”.

Juvenile judge Andreas Müller originally gained nationwide fame with unconventional sentences for young neo-Nazis. He banned some of them from wearing combat boots because he classified them as weapons. He had a 15-year-old who had shown the Hitler salute visit a Kreuzberg mosque. For a long time, however, he has been using his prominence primarily to point out the advantages of cannabis legalization. Some are also named in the music video. For example, legalization would relieve the judiciary and people would no longer slip into crime because of their cannabis consumption.

GReeeN is currently on tour with his current long player DAS VERLORENE ALBUM. In the audience there should definitely be a joint or two going around. And who knows? Maybe judge Müller will suddenly be on stage during a performance.
