Rapper GZUZ in court: unpaid fine could overturn previous verdict

On Thursday, the Hamburg rapper GZUZ had to answer to the court again. The reason for this is the appeal process filed by him and his lawyer. In September 2020, the court issued a prison sentence of 1.5 years and a fine of 510,000 euros against GZUZ. Now, however, an unpaid fine for insulting officials could cause the verdict to falter again.

Witnesses testify to theft

The court hearing is said to have lasted about six hours. In addition to GZUZ, other people were also invited and called to the witness stand. The rapper is charged with assault, possession of drugs and weapons and theft, among other things. In the course of this court hearing, the main focus was on the rapper’s attempted theft. He is said to have willfully stolen an oxygen bottle from an ambulance on February 13, 2020.

The invited witnesses, two paramedics present at the time of the crime, testified about the incident that the rapper was said to have been heavily intoxicated. GZUZ was humble and apologized for his actions. This would not have wanted to commit theft – it would have been a little prank. This should also confirm that the rapper did not flee after the crime.

Old fine not yet paid

Now the presiding judge Dr. However, Dietrich pointed out that a further fine would be paid. GZUZ is said to have insulted a police officer earlier – the fine is said to be 16,000 euros. This would have the consequence that the initiated appeal could be overturned. The next court hearing is scheduled for February 3.
