Rapper A$AP Rocky (33) has been arrested at the Los Angeles airport. That reports ‘TMZ’. He would be suspected of involvement in a shooting on November 6, 2021. An alleged victim would have stated that the rapper would have shot him several times. He would have been hit on the left hand, according to ‘NBC News’.

Rocky – real name Rakim Mayers – arrived in his private jet from Barbados. Officers were waiting for him on the runway. He was taken away in handcuffs. The artist was in Barbados with his girlfriend Rihanna (34). She announced in January that she is pregnant with her first child.

Rocky was taken to LA Police Headquarters for questioning. Investigators say he knew the alleged victim. The shooting allegedly happened after an altercation between the two. The victim later testified that the rapper, who was in front of two others, would have approached him with a handgun. According to the victim, Rocky would have fired three to four times in his direction, until one of the bullets eventually wounded his left hand. A day after the incident, the rapper performed in Long Beach. Rihanna was then in the audience.

LA Police released more details about the arrest on Twitter. “This morning LAPD officers arrested Mayers at the Los Angeles airport for assault with a deadly firearm,” the statement read.

Deposit of $550,000

In the meantime, the American police have also carried out a house search at A$AP Rocky. They smashed into his front door. They walked out with a box, but it is not clear what was inside. The rapper’s bail is said to be set at no less than $550,000 (more than 506,000 euros), “an amount that he will pay quickly to be released,” writes ‘TMZ’.

“Self defense”

A$AP Rocky already received a suspended sentence for his involvement in a brawl in Stockholm in August 2019. The rapper and two people from his entourage were then convicted of kicking and beating a 19-year-old young man after an argument. They claimed they had acted in self-defense. Then-President of the United States Donald Trump immediately demanded the rapper’s release and warned Sweden of negative consequences in case the rapper had to remain in prison.

“Release A$AP Rocky! We do so much for Sweden, but the other way around is not the case. Sweden must focus on real crime! #FreeRocky,” Trump tweeted at the time.
