Rap on “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”: Big N and “Let’s Bounce” go viral

Rap has long since arrived in the middle of society. The latest proof of this development is the viral phenomenon “Let’s Bounce”, the first single by the DSDS candidate and rap newcomer Big N. The 23-year-old Nikolaos Simediradis from Werther also won over the jury of the 20th edition with the track on January 14, 2023 Season “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, short DSDS, convinced. The track was released on Spotify on January 18th, officially through Universal Music GmbH. There is already an artist page for the Greek-born rapper on their website. The newly won attention has now translated into more than 3 million views of a clip from his casting on TikTok.
Of course, former and re-juror Dieter Bohlen did not miss this suitability for the masses. He commented on the performance with “I also like this commercial rap better than this evil rap”. Rap colleague Katja Krasavice was also convinced and praised the good technology. Pietro Lombardi, who is no rap expert, although Big N previously confused him with Kay One, is also convinced of the potential and the person behind the hit.
It’s relatively rare for a rapper to get the recall at all. However, it happened twice this year. The 27-year-old Rahman Hashempour Kargar from near Göttingen also managed to convince the jury, albeit very narrowly, with his performance of the KC Rebel track “Filet Mignon” and his own song.
At least until the first recalls are broadcast on March 19, Big N now has time to consolidate its reputation and convert it into capital. And maybe he’ll provide more surprises in Germany’s biggest casting show. So far, Big N is one of the biggest sensations of this year’s and possibly last edition.
