C.with an entrance to say the least turbulent, between assaults in the rectory and the reluctance of the Spoleto community, Raoul Bova finally debuted in Don Matteo 13. And despite the not-so-accommodating start, it’s safe to bet that his Don Massimo will be appreciated by everyone.
After all, the ratings don’t lie: 6,485,000 viewers, equal to 31.15% share. An excellent result, up from the debut this season (29.9%). Lux Vide And Rai Fiction they have therefore chosen well: The protagonist of a much-loved series can only be replaced by an equally loved face, capable of ensuring the same results.
Raoul Bova: the successful handover
From Terence Hill to Bova it was a change with all the characteristics of a dramatic revolution: the affection of the public towards Don Matteo increased over the course of 22 years of honorable service.
The Roman actor defended himself well, though. Both because he is much loved, and because his character is wisely inserted into the script. During last night’s episode, something more than this was discovered Don Massimo, who came out of nowhere. As well as some details on the disappearance of Don Matteo. The latter left Spoleto for Sudan, where he went to help a friend. He writes it in a letter (perhaps a farewell?) Addressed to the dearest loved ones. A soft farewell, which alleviates the pain of leaving the scene.
“Don Massimo doesn’t talk much, but he knows how to fix things,” says Ines (Aurora Menenti). An apt phrase, which summarizes the character played by Bova. His priest is a man of few words, but from great humanity; of small gestures, but of great help. A character in line with the image to which the Roman actor has accustomed his audience since its inception.
He won’t replace Terence Hill, but that’s not his mission. Rather, his job is to create a bridge between the old and the new course. And with the image of a good boy, the actor who always makes the audience capitulate, he already seems to have accomplished half the feat.
