Rangnick reacts to a nasty attack by Cristiano Ronaldo

Ralf Rangnick reacted calmly to criticism from superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I’m the team boss of Austria’s national team, it’s not my job to judge that,” said the selection coach, according to a report in the “Kronen Zeitung” on the sidelines of the ÖFB team’s final training session before the test match in Malaga against Andorra.

Ronaldo had degraded Rangnick in an interview. “If you’re not even a coach, how can you be the boss of Manchester United? I had never heard of him,” said the 37-year-old Portuguese in an interview with the “TalkTV” station.

Great successes in Rangnick’s vita

The 64-year-old Rangnick had been in charge of Manchester United as interim coach and successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from December 2021 until the end of last season, before becoming national coach in Austria in May of this year.

As sports director and coach of RB Leipzig, he was largely responsible for the club’s promotion to the Bundesliga in 2016. He had already done the same in 2008 with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

With FC Schalke 04, Rangnick won the DFB Cup and the Supercup in 2011.
