Joy in California: The Los Angeles Rams have made it into the 56th Super Bowl in their own stadium – and in two weeks they will meet a surprising opponent.
Home game for the Los Angeles Rams in the 56th Super Bowl: After defeating Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Californians also won the NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers (20:17) and attacked on February 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood after the NFL crown. Opponents in the game for the most important football title in the world are surprisingly the Cincinnati Bengals.
Bengals last played in the Super Bowl 33 years ago
The team from Ohio prevailed against the favorite Kansas City Chiefs 27:24 after overtime and made it into the Super Bowl for the first time since 1989. Kicker Evan McPherson scored the decisive field goal. The Bengals have never won the championship.
The Chiefs had won the Super Bowl with star quarterback Patrick Mahomes in 2020 and only failed in the final last year at the Buccaneers.
The Rams were down 7-17 against San Francisco before quarterback Matthew Stafford turned the game around with a touchdown pass. After Tampa Bay 2021, they are the second team in NFL history with a home game for the Super Bowl. The German professional Mark Nzeocha, who was recently called up to the 49ers team, was not used on Sunday.
