He Real Betis announced on Monday the hiring of Ramón Planes until June 30, 2026 as sports director of the entity, a position in which he replaces Antonio Cordón, who has officiated during the last three campaigns and ceased in mid-February.
The signing of Ramón Planes, a 56-year-old from Ilerdense who parted ways with Getafe on March 30, has been defined by the Verdiblanco club as the “bet on a world-class professional to achieve” the “sports objectives” from Betis.
The statement from the Sevillian club highlights that the Catalan coach “has developed a broad and successful professional career that began in 1999 at CE L’Hospitalet“, before holding” positions of sports responsibility in Racing de Santander, Alavés, Lleida, Espanyol, Tottenham Hotspurs, Elche, Rayo Vallecano, Getafe -in two stages- and Barcelona.
“Planes has stood out in his career for work on training and attracting talent. Among the names that joined professional football under his direction are values such as (the Barcelona fans) Ansu Fati, Gavi, Balde, Pedri or Ronald Araujo“, underlines Betis in his writing.
