Hyundai’s rally star Craig Breen has died in the tests of the World Rally Championship in Croatia.
The sad news that stopped the entire motorsport world was confirmed by Breen’s team Hyundai.
– Hyundai Motorsport is saddened to confirm that Craig Breen lost his life in the tests before the Croatian rally. Map reader James Fulton was not injured in the accident.
The left front of the Hyundai driven by Breen hit a pole during a violent exit. The map reader survived the situation without injuries.
Breen, 33, drove 81 races in the World Series. He reached the prize ball eight times, most recently in this year’s Rally Sweden, where he finished second.
The World Rally Championship in Croatia is scheduled to be held next weekend. It is not yet known whether Breen’s death will affect Hyundai’s participation. The team’s other drivers are Esapekka Lappi and Thierry Neuville.
