The scoring of the rally is renewed.
Next season, the World Rally Championship will introduce a new points calculation system.
In the future, WC points will be awarded separately from Sunday’s combined results. At the same time, the pot distributed for winning the entire competition is reduced.
Up until now, winning the World Rally Championship has brought the driver 25 points and the runner-up 18. In the coming season, the winner will get 18 points and the runner-up 15. The overall score is 18–15–13–10–8–6–4–3–2–1.
Next season, 7 points will be awarded for first place in Sunday’s special tests. Other places always bring one point less, so Sunday’s “extra scoring” is 7–6–5–4–3–2–1.
The scoring of the Power stage, which will be contested on Sunday, remains unchanged in the form of 5–4–3–2–1.
The changes only apply to the WRC class, not WRC2 or lower classes.
Some in wonder
Complicated scoring caused on social media surprised reactions.
Some of the fans liked that there was more input into Sunday’s clips, but not everyone likes the jubilation of three different points.
– What joke is this? Someone wondered.
– WRC really likes to shoot itself in the foot. Now make the point calculation even more complicated for those who are trying to get to know the sport, another wrote.
