Those vaccinated with the Russian drug Sputnik V retain antibodies to the coronavirus a year after vaccination. This was announced by Deputy Mayor of Moscow Anastasia Rakova with reference to the first results of the study of immunogenicity.

“Today, there are results for 1,323 participants out of 3,000 – this is a sample of 44% of participants. Of these, 80% have antibody levels above 200 BAU [связывающих антител]which is considered a fairly high figure,” Rakova specified.

According to her, the study involves volunteers who were vaccinated against coronavirus 11-13 months ago as part of clinical trials. In December 2021, they donated blood for antibodies to check their levels.

The Sputnik V drug received temporary registration in Russia in August 2020. After all studies of the vaccine were completed, in early February 2022, the Ministry of Health issued a permanent registration for the drug.

Mass vaccination began in January 2021. Sputnik V has been approved by 71 countries. However, the developers are still waiting for the approval of the World Health Organization and the EU medical regulator. In early February, WHO did not rule out a request for additional data on the vaccine, and later the representative of the organization in Russia, Melita Vujnovic, announced progress in registration.
